Advisor. Magazine welcomes contributions from writers, creatives, and cultural thinkers whose work explores Black fashion & beauty through the lens of business, culture, and impact. We publish reported stories, profiles, and analysis that center Black professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs shaping the industry, with an emphasis on clarity, context, and point of view.
What We're Looking For
We publish reporting and storytelling focused on Black fashion, beauty, and culture as they exist in practice and in industry. The work we respond to is specific, informed, and rooted in real perspective.
We are interested in:
Fashion coverage examining designers, brands, stylists, and the business structures shaping the industry
Beauty stories centered on founders, products, innovation, and cultural influence
Mens-focused pieces exploring menswear, grooming, athletes, and evolving ideas of masculinity
Cultural reporting that intersects with fashion, beauty, identity, and influence
Profiles and conversations with Black creatives, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders
Analysis that connects individual stories to broader shifts in fashion, beauty, and culture
We are not a fit for:
Trend roundups without original reporting or clear perspective
Product-driven or promotional coverage
Submissions that fall outside fashion, beauty, culture, and mens
Pitching Advisor.
We accept either complete pitches or completed drafts. Submissions that fall between the two will not be considered.
A complete pitch should include:
A clear story idea and angle
Why the story matters now
The format and estimated word count
Proposed sources or access, if applicable
Relevant writing samples
Completed drafts should include:
Final word count
A brief editor’s note outlining the premise and intended audience
Any relevant sourcing or reporting context

Use the subject line: PITCH or SUBMISSION, followed by the working title and your name.
Payment
Advisor. does not pay for submissions we approve unless otherwise communicated. If a story is commissioned or paid, terms will be shared in writing before work begins.
Originality and Rights
By pitching or submitting work to Advisor., you agree that submissions must be original and not previously published unless disclosed. If a piece is accepted, Advisor. will outline publishing rights and any exclusivity terms prior to publication.
If your story is under consideration elsewhere or has appeared in another format, this must be noted at the time of submission.
Response Time
We aim to respond to submissions within 14 days. Due to volume, we may not be able to respond to every pitch. If you have not heard back after this window, you may follow up once.
