Welcome back to The Style Series – where we highlight Black fashion influencers, stylists, and enthusiasts who set trends, are innovative with their style, and are a source of inspiration in the industry. Today, we tap in with Ciara Strickland!
Advisor.: How would you describe your personal style?
Ciara: “I would describe my style as modern, intentional, and mixed. I lean into neutral tones and timeless silhouettes, but I don’t shy away from a bold detail or a nostalgic reference. The new mixx is about contrast. I might wear an oversized suit with delicate gold jewelry or pair a structured trench with sneakers. I love blending masculine tailoring with feminine energy, drawing inspiration from both classic fashion and contemporary streetwear. It’s about expressing strength and softness at the same time.”

Advisor.: Your must-have fashion pieces you can’t live without
Ciara: “A great suit and meaningful jewelry. A well-cut suit gives me an instant sense of presence and confidence. I can style the pieces separately or wear them together for impact. My jewelry, especially rings and bracelets, feels like my signature. It’s personal, layered, and always adds depth to my look. These pieces carry stories, mood, and memory.”

Advisor.: Favorite current trends and how you wear them
Ciara: “I’m loving the resurgence of matching sets and elevated basics. A monochromatic knit set or structured co-ord feels effortless and polished. I also play with metallics like chrome accessories or silver accents to add shine without going over the top. I gravitate toward trends that work within my aesthetic and don’t overpower it. It’s all about styling the moment, not being consumed by it.”
Advisor.: How does fashion connects to your cultural identity or self-expression?
Ciara: “Fashion is how I carry legacy and selfhood. As a Black woman, it’s a medium through which I reflect my heritage, creativity, and individuality. I come from a line of visual storytellers. My mother and great-grandfather both had strong creative perspectives, and fashion is one way I carry that forward. Whether I’m experimenting with silhouettes, mixing textures, or styling vintage pieces, I’m honoring where I come from while writing my own style narrative.”
