Advisor.: “What are your go-to fashion pieces you can’t live without?”

Ky: “Watches – between my vintage Casio’s, bright red G-shock or gold Fossil

watch…I’m likely always wearing a watch. Also fire shoes!! Whether it’s fly kicks or a good sandal heel or boots! My shoes are always a go that I can’t live without.”

Advisor.: “What current fashion trends you are loving, and how do you incorporate them into your everyday style?”

Ky: “The current trends that I really love and have incorporated into my style are bubble skirts and also double flannel DIY skirts. I recently DIY’d a two toned flannel skirt and created the illusion of a bubble skirt by draping and layering another skirt under, to give the bubble effect.”

Advisor.: “What role do you think fashion plays in shaping cultural identity and self-expression?”

Ky: “Fashion plays such a huge role in the world in terms of identity and culture. From my perspective, fashion has always been an outlet and form of expression for me. Most of my childhood I moved around from state to state, living with family members, and having little to few clothes. I was forced to mix and match my closet and experiment with the few pairs of shoes or clothes that I had. My style was 100% unique and not easily replicated even at a young age!! My style was (and is) a key part of my identity as I relocated from state to state! All of that goes to say, through fashion is how we as humans are able to tell the world who we are, where we’ve been, and what we stand for. It’s like a visual language that speaks louder than words, letting us show off our individuality, connect with others, and represent our roots. Through fashion, we find our place in the world and write our own stories.”

Advisor.: “One fashion item you’d never wear?”

Ky: “Those damn emoji sweat suits LOL! Otherwise, anything else is a go! I love

experimenting with my style.”
