With a shared passion for empowering their community, Mompreneurs Kia Phillips and Nekol Gaskins decided to create Glamourina (in 2016), a brand that celebrates every body type and EVERY skin tone; while shining a spotlight on the strength and grace of black women in the fitness world. Glamourina offers a wide variety of hoodies, sports bras, and leggings as well as accessories that have moisture wicking fabric , deep pockets, and is squat proof while designed to stay in place as you embark on your fitness journey.  Kia and Nekol having full time jobs as well as  being moms just goes to show that all you need is to add a little GLAM to your dreams! And they will come true!

Always having a knack for storytelling Stefania Okolie, a Haitian American hailing from South Florida decided to use her interest in fitness and fashion to design a brand that signifies luxury and sustainability without breaking your pockets. Okolies goal with Solely Fit is to capture the beauty of a woman’s body while empowering and unifying strong women everywhere to feel confident and beautiful in their activewear. Solely Fit sells a variety of clothing such as leggings, bodysuits, tanks, hoodies, polo crop tops, & biker shorts. Made in LA, most designs are created with a 4 way stretch fabric that gives you free movement and flexibility. Some brands may work hard, but Okolie works harder to provide a brand that you will never forget.

Dope Fit Chick

Dope Fit Chick was introduced to the world in 2014, by Sharee Grandy, a fitness instructor, certified in Piloxing. Grandy’s obsession with fitness and staying in style were her key ideas with creating Dope Fit Chick. She hopes that Dope Fit Chick motivates black women on their fitness journey as they get healthier and happier. The greatest part of Dope Fit Chick? It’s more than tees and hoodies! Dope Fit Chick provides a “Bestie Program” for women who may feel scared or alone to work out by themselves and need extra motivation from another woman. The Basic Plan weekly price is $40-70 a week, and your bestie will go to the gym with you 2-3 times a week and push you along the way. You’ll receive 3 tips at the start of the month as well as 5% off any Dope Fit Chick products. The VIP Bestie plan weekly price is $100, and your bestie will provide you with assistance 4 times out of the week at any YMCA or Planet Fitness! Awesome right? Full Court

And last but not least, we can’t forget about Full Court, an independent activewear brand made for all athletes, created in 2014 by Marguerite Wade. Inspired by tennis mainly, Wade designed a brand that incorporates streetwear and sportswear. As a one woman show, she self funds every collection with her savings and earnings from a small batch of retailers like Opening Ceremony, Urban Outfitters, and Style Runner who all have contributed to her brand. With each seasonal collection, Wade continues to use moisture wicking, antimicrobial, and water repellent fabrics with a minimalistic color palette to keep the consumers coming back for more. With all her success so far with Full Court, Wade hopes that one day it garners enough attention to be in the same spaces as Nike and Adidas. With great design and ideas to create, she’ll be there in no time!
